Customers: Haulage Contractors handling Frozen Foods
Problem:
- Frozen food distributors face unnecessary fuel and lost time costs where vehicles with pre-agreed drop-off times are kept waiting, in particular, by supermarkets.
- In order to claim for demurrage, they needed to be able to provide an indisputable record of the time of arrival and time lost.
- They also need to remove the risk of destroyed stock should there be an unsafe temperature rise in the frozen compartment of the vehicles in cases where an engine cannot be left running for a length of time.
Solution:
By fitting the Trackonix system, accurate records can be kept of arrival and departure times. Names of regularly used destinations can be programmed into the system for ease of location identification. In addition, we are able to offer the facility of an automatically triggered text message to the warehouse manager to warn them that the vehicle was within a predetermined radius of the warehouse. Linked into the temperature monitoring system on the vehicle, an alert can be built in which automatically triggers a warning text message to the driver if the temperature goes above a set level in case they are away from the cab. As a result, companies can benefit from considerable cost-savings through reduced waiting times, successful demurrage claims and the reduction of the risk of avoidable wasted cargo. The employees benefit from reduced frustration at having to wait around and the assistance of the alert to ensure that cargo temperature is safeguarded when they are away from the vehicle.
